FAQ

  • I wear contact lenses. Do I need to remove them before an eyeliner procedure?
Yes. Please do not wear contact lenses during your eyeliner appointment and avoid using them for at least 4 days post-treatment to reduce the risk of infection and irritation.
  • Can I drink alcohol or caffeine before/after my eyeliner treatment?
Avoid alcohol, coffee, or any caffeinated drinks 24 hours before and after your appointment. These thin the blood, which may lead to excessive bleeding and interfere with pigment retention.
  • Can I wear mascara or eyeliner after my procedure?
No. Avoid all eye makeup for 7–10 days after an eyeliner tattoo. Applying mascara or eyeliner too soon can introduce bacteria and disrupt healing.
  • I have lash extensions. Can I still get eyeliner tattooed?
Lash extensions must be removed at least 2 days prior to your eyeliner procedure. They may interfere with precise application and increase infection risk.
  • Is there swelling after eyeliner tattooing?
Some clients may experience mild swelling or redness for 1–3 days post-procedure. Applying a cold compress (with clean cloth barrier) can help reduce swelling.
  • Can I get permanent lip makeup after botox or fillers?
You must wait 4 weeks after any lip filler or botox injections before receiving a lip tattoo. This helps avoid uneven results and gives injectables time to settle properly.
  • Can I get lip blushing if I’ve had cold sores before?
Yes, but we highly recommend starting an antiviral medication (like Valtrex) 3 days before and continuing 3 days after your appointment. This helps prevent cold sore outbreaks, which can be triggered by lip tattooing.
  • Will lip color heal lighter or darker than what I see right after treatment?
Immediately after the procedure, lips appear brighter and more intense. As they heal, the color will soften by about 40–60%, revealing the final tone over 4–6 weeks.
  • Can I wear lipstick or lip balm after the procedure?
You must avoid all makeup and non-recommended products on your lips for at least 7–10 days. Only use healing ointments provided or suggested by your technician.
  • How long after a chemical peel or laser treatment can I get permanent makeup?
You must wait at least 4 weeks after any laser or chemical peel treatment before scheduling a permanent makeup session. This allows the skin to fully recover and prevents irritation or poor pigment retention.
  • Can I use Retin-A or AHA products before my appointment?
No. Discontinue Retin-A, Glycolic Acid, or any AHA products at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. These ingredients increase skin sensitivity and may affect how pigment settles.
  • How soon after microdermabrasion or dermaplaning can I book a procedure?
Wait a minimum of 2 weeks after treatments like microdermabrasion or dermaplaning before getting permanent makeup. Your skin needs time to heal and rebuild its natural barrier.
  • Should I exfoliate before my session?
Yes — light exfoliation is recommended 3 days before your appointment to gently prep the skin and remove dead cells. Avoid exfoliating the day of or the day before.
  • Can I get permanent makeup while on Accutane or similar medications?
No. You must be off Accutane (or similar medications) for at least 1 year before undergoing any permanent makeup procedure. These medications thin the skin and can cause poor healing and scarring.
  • Can I tan before or after my procedure?
Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for 1 week before and 2 weeks after your appointment. Tanned or sunburned skin is compromised and will not hold pigment properly.
  • What if I have a breakout or open wound on the treatment area?
If you have active acne, open wounds, or any skin irritation in the area to be treated, your session will need to be rescheduled. We require the skin to be fully healed for optimal results.
  • Can I get microneedling, facials, or skin resurfacing treatments after permanent makeup?
Yes, but only after the treated area has fully healed — usually around 4–6 weeks post-procedure. Always inform your skincare professional that you have permanent makeup.
